Soltan Moment | Why Not Great Grades ?

I’ve argued in favor of keeping Michigan football head coach Rich Rodriguez around for another year, but nothing I can say will help him now. He’s just coached his last game for the Wolverines. It’s not official yet. And there’s no guarantee on who will take his place. Though, it’s all just formality at this point.

But those things can be remedied. Even those who can’t stand RichRod and haven’t from the start know that those are fixable issues. If we had gotten one kicker (should be easier than UM has made it seem), senior cornerbacks Troy Woolfolk doesn’t get injured in the beginning of the season and Donovan Warren doesn’t leave early for the NFL, and we’ve got a vastly different scenario. That’s not the issue..

The issue is that there’s no confidence in Rodriguez and his program anymore. People have been calling for his head for nearly all of the barely 36 months that he’s been coach. Hallowed former Michigan players like Desmond Howard aren’t even all-in on the coach. Judging on just Rodriguez’s own body language over the weeks, I don’t even know how much confidence he even has anymore in himself and the program..

Let’s see if it’s enough to bring Michigan back into national contention. As a huge Wolverines fan, I can only hope so..

Meeeechigan is the all time winningest program in all of big-boy college football. Three years of mediocrity was all they could stand and Rich Rod was freed-up to take the Clempsun job as soon as they can afford it–what with them bank rolling the unemployed genius of Tummy Bowden. Huh……three years of sub-par performances gets you the axe in places that demand wins and greatness……imagine that.

Should Les be Big Twelvine bound LSU will be in the market for a new Head Coach.A school with a huge HS talent pool, in the SEC, totally devoted to the football program, and with seemingly endless money. Basically Georgia but with an iron grip on their HS talent. Coach Patterson…..LSU is on line one.

This time a donor (anonymous ) is coming to the plate to help the loser SDSU athletic team. According to the press last year Frank Cuenca had to steal money from his partner to find the money to donate to the athletics program. This years anonymous donor, anonymous because of all the bad press that comes with diverting money from students and giving it to dumb ass athletes

The anonymous donor who has pledged $5 million to SDSU’s athletic department. It is a challenge gift, with the first $1 million coming in by early next year, to be used on salaries for Hoke and others and facility improvements. The rest of the money, $4 million, is contingent on the university matching the amount through other donors(the Weber triangle Schemmel Frank Cuenca), and Aztecs Athletic Director Jim Sterk already is working on that. “We have four or five guys with a half-million commitment already,” Sterk says.

“It is a significant gift from the ana,” Sterk told The San Diego Union-Tribune. “It allows us to put a retention package together for Brady and the assistants It allows me the opportunity to be able to do some things that we wouldn’t be able to do without that resource. It’s very, very positive. Of course it is as students can’t even get student loan

And there’s still the situation at Michigan, where Hoke served as an assistant coach from 1995-2002. Rich Rodriguez is not on firm ground there and the school has said it won’t do anything, if anything, until after the Wolverines play in the Gator Bowl

“But not in specifics,” Hoke said. A call to Armstrong was not immediately returned.

.

“Jim and I have talked and I’m excited about our conversations,” Hoke said. Hoke is 12-12 in two season at SDSU including 8-4 this year. He has three years left on his SDSU contract and a buyout of $1.5 million. Hoke has also been linked to the recently available job at Indiana, but said he has not had any conversations with any other schools.
